Our Story:

The story of Sierra Valley Mechanical begins in 2002.  After working for a decade in the HVAC trade for one of the “Big Guys” in town, Michael Hlavay founded the business under the original name of Sierra Valley Home Corp.  A guest room in Mike’s house was transformed into a home office and a 1970 Dodge truck became the service and installation fleet vehicle.  While continuing to provide quality HVAC services, Mike's passion for building also led to the construction and remodeling of numerous custom homes, condominiums, and small commercial projects.

Over the next few years, the company and staff quickly grew out of its humble surroundings and Sierra Valley was moved to its current commercial building. The trusty old Dodge was allowed to retire and a shiny new service van and flatbed took its place.

In 2007, the Great Recession started to show its face and the situation became “survival of the fittest” for small businesses everywhere.  With almost no demand for construction services Mike focused on growing the heating & air conditioning division and began learning about solar.  Having broad knowledge of the “whole building” and specialized knowledge of the HVAC trade, Sierra Valley was able to offer expert services to both residential and commercial customers.

With a renewed focus on HVAC and related trades, it eventually became clear that “Sierra Valley Home Corp” no longer seemed the best name for an HVAC/Solar company.   In 2020, we officially became Sierra Valley Mechanical.  Same license, same great people and the same great company our customers have grown to know and trust.

Sierra Valley Mechanical experienced humble beginnings and has endured challenging times.  Ultimately, Sierra Valley has remained a stable and thriving small business in our community.  Through the years we have enjoyed supporting and contributing to the livelihood and expertise of our employees, many of whom have been with us over five years and some over thirteen years.  Mike's daughter has also joined the family business, but you could argue that all of our employees are like family.

Everyone here takes pride in being a company that continually strives to provide honest and ethical services.  Our technicians are paid hourly and we avoid any compensation structure that creates incentive to inflate repair bills or make unneeded recommendations. You will never get any sales pressure from us; just honest and professional recommendations and quotes. Just like finding that trusted auto repair garage, we strive to be that kind of company for all of your home comfort needs and services.

Mike Hlavay

Mike Hlavay is our President and founder of Sierra Valley! He started this company in 2003 after being in the HVAC trade for 10 years. Mike has committed his company and its employees to being experts in the field and building a company everyone can trust. In the rare moments when he is not working, Mike enjoys spending time with his family and is a huge supporter of the 4H youth in his community.

Matt Juvet

Matt Juvet is our Field Operations Manager. He is in charge of making sure our crews are running in tip-top shape and tackles our most difficult service calls. Matt has been a part of the Sierra Valley family for over 16 years! Sierra Valley is lucky to have him as a team leader as he is one of the best in the business! Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, coaching his sons’ sports teams, and snowboarding!

Brianna Gregory

Brianna Gregory is our Chief Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary. Along with those titles she is also our fleet manager, HR department, and office admin. She wears many hats! Brianna started working here full time in 2017 , but has been running around our office since the business’s inception coming to work with her dad and President, Mike! Outside of work, Brianna is a 4H leader, breeds show sheep with her younger sister, and enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dachshund puppies.

Francisco Duran

Francisco is our senior service technician. When Francisco is not working hard to keep our customers comfortable, he enjoys watching the 49ers and fishing at the river! Francisco was a part our install crew and has been with Sierra Valley combined for over 6 years!

Shayna Yaeger is our Service Dispatcher, Customer Service Relations, and Marketing Administrator. She loves iced chai lattes, is a three-day eventing horseback rider, and when she is not in the office she is running a horse training business with her husband. Shayna looks forward to chatting with you when you call or text Sierra Valley!

Caroline Dein

Caroline Dein is our accountant and bookkeeper. When Caroline isn’t working in the office, she spends her free time riding her horses, being a fun aunt to her little niece, and growing the small business she owns with her mom. She has been a great addition to the family!

Suzy Chiodo is Sierra Valley’s office manager. Suzy is in charge of making sure everything flows efficiently and customers have what they need. Suzy has been a part of the Sierra Valley family for over 16 years! Outside of work she enjoys spending time with friends, taking road trips, and going to rock concerts!
